The State Border Service of Ukraine says two officers of the FSB of Russia have been captured at the administrative border of Crimea in Kherson region.

Viktor Nazarenko, the chairperson of the State Border Service of Ukraine, wrote this on his Facebook page, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The officers of the Russian secret service were captured on the coast of Perekop Bay in Kherson region on Friday.

The Russians arrived in a boat without any documents.

They said during an interrogation that they are officers of the border service of the FSB of Russia.

According to them, they were involved in exercises and acted as intruders. According to them, they had lost their way and appeared on the Ukrainian territory by mistake.

Oleh Slobodian, the spokesperson for the State Border Service of Ukraine, said live on 112 Ukraine television channel on Friday that the State Border Service of Russia has sent to Ukraine an inquiry about two soldiers lost during exercises.

"We received the fax in the east, in Kharkiv region. They informed us that two military of the State Border Service of the Russian Federation allegedly lost during night exercises. They are asking us whether we know anything about this," he said.

Slobodian specified that the State Border Service of Ukraine does not contact with Russian frontier guards from the side of the Russia-annexed Crimea. That is why the inquiry was sent to Kharkiv region.

He specified that the two Russians were not armed and did not resist.

Ukraine's law enforcement agencies are expecting from Russia documents to identify the two persons.

The two are in one of units of the State Border Service of Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, officers of the armed forces of Ukraine have handed to the Security Service of Ukraine a Russian citizen following a fight outside the village of Zhelobok, Luhansk region.
