Rada Permanently Cuts 'Green Tariff' Factor For Solar Power Stations Of Over 10MW

The Verkhovna Rada has cut 1.8-fold the factor of the for solar power stations with the rated capacity of over 10MW commissioned before July 2015 on the permanent basis (2017 through 2030).

Draft law No.5129 as a whole received votes of 232 Members of Parliament, while 226 votes enough for approval, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The factor for solar power stations of over 10MW commissioned before April 2013 has been lowered from 8.64 to 4.8; for solar power stations commissioned between April 2013 and December 31, 2014 from 6.3 to 3.5; for solar power stations commissioned between January and July 2015 from 5.67 to 3.15.

In June 2015, the Rada lowered the 'green tariff' factors 1.8-fold on a temporary basis, till January 1, 2017.

This decision will let the energy market save approximately UAH 3 billion yearly.

The biggest company generating solar power in Ukraine is China National Building Material (CNBM), which acquired ownership of Sunrise Solar and Neptune Solar (both in Mykolayiv Region), Danube SPS-1, Danube SPS-2, Pryozerna-1, Pryozerna-3, Liman Energy-1 and Liman Energy-2 (all based in Odesa Region).

Chairman of the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities Dmytro Vovk welcomed adoption of this bill.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the 'green tariff' is calculated on basis of the retail tariff for consumers of class 2 voltage as of January 2009 (EUR 0.053,85/kW) with the 'green tariff' factor.
