Part-time study to be abolished and education reformed in Ukraine

The government has supported the bill on fundamental changes and the approximation of the Ukrainian education system to European standards. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced this on his Telegram channel on Monday, October 23.

Fedorov noted that students will choose how long to study, subjects interesting for them, and will also be able to change their specialty after 1-2 years of study.

Innovations in education:

  • Students under contract can regulate the term of study. For example, accelerate their studies and complete a bachelor's degree in three years instead of four, or get a degree in 6 years. This will help to form a convenient schedule if you work or want to pay more attention to certain subjects.
  • Choosing a specialty after the first or second year. This means that after entering a certain field and studying for 1-2 years of general subjects, you can choose a specific specialty in the future.
  • Distance learning instead of part-time or evening learning from 2024.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in March Fedorov said that the education system expects a total struggle with bureaucracy and digitalization.

On June 1, the Ministry of Digital Transformation announced that it was launching a pilot project to modernize Internet networks in Ukraine.

Recall, on September 6, the Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi said that for male students who have not yet reached the age of 30 and are receiving a continuous education, as well as for teachers, a delay from mobilization will continue.
