Trading volume on PFTS down 20% to UAH 28.6 billion in December

In December 2023, the total trading volume on the PFTS stock exchange amounted to UAH 28.6 billion (80% of the level of November 2023) or 66% of the total trading volume by securities trading organizers in Ukraine.

The PFTS stock exchange announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In 2023, the total volume of trading on PFTS amounted to UAH 320.8 billion (356% of the level of 2022), which is equal to 63% of the total volume of trading of organizers of securities trading in Ukraine.

The volume of trading in government bonds of Ukraine in 2023 compared to 2022 increased 3 times, bonds of foreign states - 5 times, corporate bonds of Ukrainian issuers - 20 times (due to the resumption of initial offerings).

In the trading structure for December, the share of government bonds was 94.4 (UAH27 billion), corporate bonds of Ukrainian issuers - 3.3% (UAH 1 billion), bonds of foreign states - 2.3% (UAH 0.7 billion), and shares of Ukrainian issuers - 0.0002% (UAH 0.06 million).

The structure of trading in 2023 was as follows: government bonds of Ukraine - 96.2% (UAH 308.6 billion), corporate bonds of Ukrainian issuers - 2.7% (UAH 8.6 billion), bonds of foreign states - 1.1% (UAH 3.7 billion), shares of Ukrainian issuers - 0.01% (UAH 19.2 million) and shares of foreign issuers - 0.0001% (UAH 0.2 million).

In December, 4.6% of transactions were concluded in the "application market" (in 2023 - 15.7%); 83.8% of transactions were concluded in the "quotation market" (including address transactions) (in 2023 - 78.7%); 11% of transactions were concluded in repo and risk-controlled REPO (in 203 - 5.3%); and 0.6% of transactions were concluded in the auction mode (in 2023 - 0.3%).

In December 2023, 39 bidders at PFTS entered into transactions with 48 issues of securities (government domestic loan bonds - 33, government foreign loan bonds - 1, corporate bonds of Ukrainian issuers - 7, bonds of a foreign state - 6, shares of Ukrainian issuers - 1).

In 2023, 49 bidders entered into agreements with 114 issues of securities (government domestic loan bonds - 67, government foreign loan bonds - 4, shares of foreign issuers - 1, shares of Ukrainian issuers - 8, corporate bonds of Ukrainian issuers - 16, bonds of a foreign state - 18).

Among the 33 issues of government bonds with which transactions were concluded in December, 18 issues were with repayment dates in 2024 (UAH 12.2 billion), 7 issues with repayment dates in 2025 (UAH 6.2 billion), 5 issues with repayment dates in 2026 (UAH 4.6 billion), and 3 issues with repayment dates in 2027 (UAH 3.9 billion).

Since July 26, the PFTS has begun trading in foreign currency denominated government domestic loan bonds.

In December 2023, the volume of exchange contracts with government bonds, executed in the currency of denomination, amounted to USD 61.6 million and EUR 3.3 million (8.6% of the total trading volume).

In 2023, the volume of exchange contracts with government bonds, executed in the currency of denomination, amounted to USD 1.2 billion and EUR 61.9 million (14.4% of the total trading volume).

The PFTS stock exchange is one of the largest organizers of securities trading in Ukraine.

As of January 1, 2024, the number of PFTS stock exchange members admitted to trading was 51: 30 banks and 21 financial companies.

353 issues of securities were allowed to trade on PFTS, of which 119 issues of securities were on the exchange register.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in November 2023, the total trading volume on the PFTS stock exchange amounted to UAH 35.7 billion (82% of the level of October 2023) or 64% of the total trading volume by securities trading organizers in Ukraine.

Since 1997, the PFTS index has been the official index of Ukraine in the S&P Emerging Markets.
