15,000 Out Of 174,000 Deaths In Q1 Were Due To Covid-19 – State Statistics Service

In the first quarter of 2021, a total of 174,050 people died in Ukraine, the number includes 15,040 people who died from the Covid-19.

The State Statistics Service has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The coronavirus infection was registered in 14,785 during their being alive, and in 255 after death.

The largest number of people died over diseases related to blood vascular system.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 23, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 1,334 over May 22 to 2,183,855, and the number of deaths increased by 68 over May 22 to 49,436; at the same time, the number of new cases decreased by 47.3%, and the number of new lethal cases decreased by 23.6%.

According to the report, as of the morning of May 24, a total of 2,183,855 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases were registered in Ukraine; the number included 49,436 fatal cases; 1,957,561 people had recovered.

On May 23, a total of 1,334 new disease cases were recorded, 68 people died, and 6,999 people recovered.

Therefore, as of May 23, the number of newly infected people was lower than that of those who recovered (1,334 vs 6,999).

As of the morning of May 24, the overall number of currently coronavirus-infected people in Ukraine was 176,858, down 3.1% over May 23.

Since the start of the epidemic, the largest number of coronavirus-infected people has been registered in the city of Kyiv (204,276), Kharkiv region (145,530), and Odesa region (138,888).

Besides, Lviv region has registered a total of 134,665 coronavirus infection cases, Dnipropetrovsk region – 131,853; Kyiv region – 124,006 cases, Zaporizhia region – 101,664, Donetsk region – 88,442, Khmelnytskyi region – 87,386, Zhytomyr region – 87,192, Ivano-Frankivsk region - 85,857, Cherkasy region – 79,987, Chernivtsi region – 78,869, Rivne region – 77,249, and Poltava region – 76,405.
A total of 76,404 cases have been registered in Sumy region, 70,133 cases – in Vinnytsia region, 69,041 cases - in Ternopil region, 67,641 cases - in Mykolayiv region, 61,360 cases – in Zakarpattia region, 60,740 cases – in Volyn region, 56,192 cases – in Chernihiv region, 34,218 – in Kherson region, 25,800 – in Luhansk region, and 20,057 cases – in Kirovohrad region.
