Satellite images of one of the sites of the Plesetsk Cosmodrome (Arkhangelsk Oblast, russia) show a huge eruption and traces of a fire as a result of the russians' unsuccessful test of the intercontinental ballistic missile RS-28 "Sarmat".

This is reported by Radio Svoboda.

"At one of the launch sites of the Plesetsk cosmodrome, satellite images revealed a huge sinkhole and traces of a fire," the report says.

Previously, OSINT analyst MT_Anderson published pictures and reported on the X social network that it was a failed test of the russian intercontinental ballistic missile RS-28 "Sarmat", which exploded in a silo, effectively destroying the infrastructure of the Yubileynyi launch pad.

The expert notes that the liquid rocket fuel could have exploded during refueling, that is, it could simply not have reached the launch itself, and reminds that this is already the fourth unsuccessful test of the “Sarmat” missile.

According to the Ministry of Defense of the russian federation, the only successful missile launch from the Plesetsk cosmodrome took place on April 20, 2022. Despite this, russian president vladimir putin claimed in February 2024 that the "Sarmats" had already been deployed in the army.
