The United States has successfully conducted an electronic test launch of the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile, Offutt Air Force Base announced.

The test, conducted on September 17 without actually launching a missile, was called "a signal to our allies and adversaries." Such tests are conducted twice a year to check the readiness of the missile complex for operational use.

Minuteman III is a solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile that has been in service with the US Army since 1970. Its flight range is about 9,500 kilometers. Prior to that, the last test launch of the missile was carried out in June, another test took place in September 2023. In the mid-2030s, the Minuteman III is planned to be completely replaced by Sentinel missiles.

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, the United States currently has 5,044 nuclear warheads at its disposal, of which 1,770 are in combat readiness. In the russian federation, these figures reach 5,580 and 1,710 units, respectively.
