Russia acknowledges attack on ferry ship in port of Kavkaz near Kerch, it is about Conroe Trader - Defense Express

Russian local authorities have acknowledged that a drone attack was carried out on an unnamed ferry vessel on the night of July 23. It is probably the damage to the Conroe Trader ferry.

Thus, the damage to the ferry was recognized by the governor of the Krasnodar Krai, Veniamin Kondartyev, while before that the event was known from unofficial local sources. According to him, on the morning of July 23, drones attacked a ferry ship in the port of Kavkaz. He also stated that among the crew members and employees of the port there are injured and a killed person.

The publication notes that this statement may lead to punishment of the governor for "discrediting the armed forces of the russian federation", since the Ministry of Defense of the russian federation was reported to have foiled an attempted Ukrainian attack and immediately destroyed 21 drones over the temporarily occupied Crimea and the Black Sea.

At the same time, at the end of May, the Defense Forces carried out successful attacks on two railway ferries, which was confirmed by the report of the General Staff, photos of local residents and satellites.

Conroe Trader and Avangard, the only two rail ferries operating on the Kerch Strait crossing, were affected, the publication said. The first received damage to the side, the second - as it was known at first, the deck. At the same time, the ship's roll was visible in the photo, which indicated its partial sinking.

On June 21, russia announced that it had eliminated the consequences of the Ukrainian attack on the Avangard ferry. The ferry suffered a hole in the engine room and completely lost its buoyancy.

"And it took three weeks just to prepare it for towing to the Kerch Shipyard. This, by the way, to some extent raises the question of whether it was an anti-ship missile strike," Defense Express notes.

The publication concludes that, in this way, the only possible candidate, if we are talking about damage to the railway ferry itself, is the Conroe Trader. At the same time, it is not excluded that one of the five car ferries became the target of the strike: the large Lavrenty, Panagia, Maria and the smaller ones - Kerchensky-2, Yeysk.
