Military Prosecutor's Office Sends Case Involving Fire At Ammunition Depot In Vinnytsia Region To SBU For Investigation

The Military Prosecutor's Office for the Central Region has transferred the case involving fires at a Ministry of Defense ammunition depot near Kalynivka (Vinnytsia region) to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) for investigation.

The press service of the Military Prosecutor's Office for the Central Region announced this in a statement, the Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The criminal proceeding that the Military Prosecutor's Office for the Central Region launched on September 27, 2017, in connection with sabotage on the territory of a military unit in the village of Kalynivka, Vinnytsia region, has been transferred to the Security Service of Ukraine's office in Vinnytsia region..." the statement said.

Initial investigative and procedural actions are currently being performed in this criminal case.

The Security Service of Ukraine's spokesperson Olena Hitlianska announced on Facebook that the Security Service of Ukraine's investigative team has been reinforced by experienced specialists from its central office and regional intelligence agencies.

In addition, according to Hitlianska, efforts to localize the fire and explosions at military depots near Kalynivka were continuing as of 16:00 on Wednesday.

Specialists have begun clearing the territory, which will allow investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine to begin inspecting the scene in the near future.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the military prosecutor's office is treating the explosions at the Ministry of Defense ammunition depot in Vinnytsia region as sabotage.
