Rada Extends Martial Law And Mobilization Until May 20

The Verkhovna Rada extended the period of martial law and general mobilization from February 19 for 90 days, i.e. until May 20.

A total of 348 MPs voted for bill 8419, with the minimum required 226, and 344 for 8420, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Bill 8419 provides for the approval of Presidential decree No. 58 of February 6 "On extending the period of martial law in Ukraine", according to which the period of martial law is extended from 5:30 a.m. on February 19 for 90 days.

Bill 8420 provides for the approval of Presidential decree No. 59 of February 6 "On extending the period of general mobilization", according to which the period of general mobilization is extended from February 19 for 90 days.

In the explanatory note to both bills, it is emphasized that their adoption will contribute to the adoption of adequate measures aimed at repelling Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on November 16, 2022, the Verkhovna Rada extended the terms of martial law and general mobilization from November 21, 2022 for 90 days, i.e. until February 19, 2023.
