President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on his partners to allow strikes deep into the territory of the aggressor state of russia in order to destroy all the airfields from which russian planes take off to bombard Ukraine.

His words were quoted by RBC-Ukraine on Thursday, July 18.

Zelenskyy addressed the leaders of the partner countries during the inaugural plenary session of the European Political Community summit. The president first of all called on the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Poland to show courage for the sake of peace.

"Military airfields from which Russian planes take off with bombs on Ukrainian cities, children and Russian missile launch sites - all this must be destroyed. This will not only destroy some targets, but also reduce Russia's ability to continue this war. Missiles and drones are not " bearers of state sovereignty," therefore there must be a collective will, a collective will to shoot them down, just as it was with Iranian missiles and drones," Zelenskyy emphasized.

According to him, an example of this is the situation in the Kharkiv Region, where the Ukrainian military was allowed to use weapons near the russian border. This did not lead to escalation and any reactions of the dictator putin, the President emphasized.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in June, the Armed Forces showed for the first time a map of destroyed aircraft of the russian federation for six months.

On June 23, National Guard fighters from the Igla MANPADS destroyed an enemy Su-25 attack aircraft in the Donetsk Region.

On June 9, Ukrainian defenders destroyed a russian Su-25 on the Avdiivka axis.

On June 8, a russian Su-57 multi-role fighter was hit on the territory of the Akhtubinsk airfield in the Astrakhan Region of the russian federation.
