Congress of Judges elects Supreme Court judge Oliynyk as judge of Constitutional Court

The Congress of Judges of Ukraine elected Alla Oliynyk, a judge of the Civil Court of Cassation as part of the Supreme Court, as a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

This is stated on the website of the Council of Judges, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The Congress of Judges of Ukraine adopted this decision on September 18.

Before that, the counting commission announced that delegates received 273 ballots, of which 272 were valid.

191 delegates voted for Oliynyk's candidacy.

81 congress delegates did not support any candidate.

Alla Oliynyk is a judge of the Civil Court of Cassation as part of the Supreme Court.

In 2014-2017, she held the position of a member of the Supreme Council of Justice (currently the High Council of Justice), to which she was also elected based on the quota of the congress of judges.

In 2010-2017, she was a judge of the High Specialized Court for consideration of civil and criminal cases.

Competitions are currently ongoing for seven more positions based on quotas from the President, the Verkhovna Rada, and the Congress of Judges.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada appointed professor of the Department of Constitutional Law of the Faculty of Law of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv Serhii Riznyk as a judge of the Constitutional Court.
