IAEA Director General Arrives At Zaporizhzhia NPP - Energoatom

Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi arrived at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant temporarily occupied by Russians. This was reported by the press service of Energoatom national nuclear energy generating company.

It is noted that this is the second visit of the head of the IAEA to the largest nuclear plant in Ukraine and Europe since it was occupied by Russians.

"This time, Rafael Grossi plans to see how the situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP has changed, to talk with the nuclear engineers who operate it, and also to act as a guarantor of the rotation of members of the Agency's permanent mission, which has been working at the Zaporizhzhia NPP since September 2022," the message reads.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Grossi noted that despite the presence of the IAEA at the Zaporizhzhia NPP for the past 7 months, the situation at the facility is still dangerous.

Also, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi met in Zaporizhzhia and discussed the safety of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

The Director General of the IAEA noted that he decided to visit the Zaporizhzhia NPP, leading a delegation of the agency to rotate the staff at the Zaporizhzhia NPP in order to assess with his own eyes the nuclear safety and security situation at the facility.
