In 2023, nuclear power plants (NPPs) generated 52.409 billion kWh of electricity, which is up 101.6% of the plan.

This follows from a statement by Energoatom, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"This is almost 50% of the total energy mix of Ukraine. Domestic nuclear plants exceeded the projected energy balance by 12.8% and additionally produced about 5 billion kWh of electricity worth UAH 19.5 billion," said the acting chairperson of the company's board, Petro Kotin.

He emphasized that thanks to this, the state budget will receive an additional UAH 3.8 billion.

According to him, the company completed all 480 planned measures in time in preparation for the 2023-2024 autumn-winter period, which made it possible to ensure maximum electricity production.

"As a result of shortening the terms of scheduled and preventive works by 66 days, the NPPs were able to generate almost 1.4 billion kWh of electricity in addition. As always, repair work was performed with high-quality assurance," Kotin said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the national nuclear energy generating company Energoatom is registered as a joint-stock company.

As part of the corporatization, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed acting board chairperson of Energoatom Kotin.
