Volume of mortgage loans up 13.7% to UAH 1.5 billion, number up 13.4% to 937 in November

Ukrainian banks in November 2023 issued 937 mortgages totaling UAH 1.5 billion.

This is evidenced by the NBU data, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the results of a monthly survey of banks on the volume of mortgage loans provided to the population, the volume of loans provided to the population in November compared to October increased by 13.7%, and the number - by 13.4%.

Preferential lending within the framework of the eOselia (eHome) program traditionally dominates in the mortgage segment.

In November, 7 banks informed about the issuance of a new mortgage, which mainly credited housing purchase in the secondary real estate market.

The weighted average effective mortgage rate slightly fell to 7.6% in November, down from 7.8% in October.

In the regional context, the largest number of mortgage loans in November was issued in Kyiv and the Kyiv Region - 441 contracts were concluded for a total amount of UAH 771.5 million (52.8% of the total); Lviv Region (50 contracts for UAH 90 million); Vinnytsia Region (52 contracts for UAH 81.2 million); and Rivne Region (46 contracts for UAH 69.1 million).

In the December 2023 survey, 33 banks provided responses with a 95.8% share of the total gross mortgage portfolio at the end of 2021.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in 2022, the number of mortgages fell by 5.3 times to 2,009, with 2/3 of the loans issued before the outbreak of the pandemic.

Banks in 2022 issued 2,009 mortgages totaling UAH 1.96 billion.
