In January 2024, compared to December 2023, the ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih Mining and Metallurgical Plant (Dnipropetrovsk Region) increased the production of iron ore concentrate by 41% to 552,000 tons.

This is stated in the message of the enterprise, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"In January 2024, the company continued its efforts to increase production volumes. 552,000 tons of iron ore concentrate were produced, which is 161,000 tons or 41% more than the previous month. This was facilitated by both the increase in the volume of export orders and increase in domestic consumption. Thanks to the increase in the productivity of blast furnace redistribution, the volume of pig iron production increased by 13,000 tons (+10%) to 149,000 tons compared to December 2023, which also made it possible to increase the production of steel and commercial products by 14,000 tons (+23%) and 15,000 tons (+26%), respectively," the report says.

It is noted that compared to January 2023, the production of pig iron has doubled, of iron ore concentrate increased by 66%, of blast furnace coke - by 77%, which generally reflects the results of efforts to stabilize the enterprise's work in the conditions of today's security, logistics and energy risks.

At the same time, due to the limited supply of electricity in January 2023, the plant did not produce steel and rolled products.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih reduced steel production by 18.5% to 1 million tons in 2023 compared to 2022.

In 2023, the production of pig iron also decreased by 7.2% to 1.6 million tons, rolled steel - by 19.2% to 0.9 million tons, coke - by 20.3% to 0.9 million tons, ore production - by 2.1% to 11.4 million tons.

At the same time, concentrate production increased by 0.4% to 4.6 million tons.

The company's capacity is designed for the annual production of more than 6 million tons of steel, more than 5 million tons of rolled steel, and more than 5.5 million tons of cast iron.

95.1283% of the plant's shares belong to Mittal Steel Germany GmbH, which is part of the Arcelor Mittal international holding.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is the largest producer of rolled steel in Ukraine, specializing in the production of long rolled products, in particular fittings and wire rods.
