Polish farmers block 3 directions and not letting trucks out from Ukraine – SBSU

Polish farmers are blocking three directions on the border with Ukraine; trucks are practically not allowed into Poland.

This follows from a statement by the spokesperson for the State Border Service of Ukraine, Andrii Demchenko, on the air of the telethon.

"The blocking of precisely three directions: Rava-Ruska, Yahodyn, and Uhryniv. In fact, in all these three directions, Polish farmers do not allow freight vehicles to go to Poland at all. In contrast, several freight vehicles are allowed to go to Ukraine every hour," the spokesperson said.

Demchenko noted that the Yahodyn checkpoint is the largest infrastructural route on the border of Ukraine and Poland. It can pass 1,200-1,400 trucks per day. But over the past day, only 70 trucks arrived in the direction of Ukraine.

According to him, as of the morning of April 4, about 400 trucks are standing in queues at blocked checkpoints.

There are also queues at unlocked checkpoints. In Krakowka, 500 trucks are standing in line, and in Szegyny - 450. The traffic in these directions is intense, but due to the blocking of other checkpoints, there are queues.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, commenting on blocking the movement of Ukrainian trucks on the border with Poland, said that only 5% of Ukrainian agricultural exports pass through this border. Hence, the reason for the protests of Polish farmers lies not in grain but in politics.

On February 20, Polish farmers began a stricter restriction on the movement of vehicles on the border with Ukraine.

The actual volume of grain exports by Ukraine since the beginning of the 2023/2024 marketing year (July 2023 - June 2024) as of April 1 is 34.862 million tons, which is 8.4% or 3.2 million tons less than in the same period of the previous marketing year.
