Ukraine and Iceland signed an Agreement on cooperation in the field of security and long-term support, which provides for the provision of at least ISK 4 billion (almost USD 30 million) to Ukraine every year during 2024-2028.

This is stated in the message of the Office of the President, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The agreement was signed in Stockholm by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Iceland Bjarni Benediktsson.

Iceland undertook to provide comprehensive and long-term economic, humanitarian and defense support to Ukraine, as well as to promote its future membership in the EU and NATO.

Iceland is also ready to finance, purchase and supply defense materials and equipment, as well as cooperate with Ukraine to develop its defense industry.

According to the report, the uniqueness of the agreement is that Iceland undertakes to continue transporting military cargo and equipment from NATO allies to Ukraine by chartered cargo planes.

In addition, Iceland will pay special attention to the support and equipment of Ukrainian women in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Separate sections of the agreement concern support for the Ukrainian peace formula, sanctions against the russian federation, compensation for damages, and bringing the aggressor to justice.

It is also about strengthening social and civil infrastructure, in particular in the field of education and energy security.

Iceland is committed to strengthening its diplomatic representation in Kyiv to deepen cooperation with government institutions, parliament, civil society and the private sector in Ukraine.

The agreement with Iceland has already become the 14th security agreement signed to implement the provisions of the joint declaration adopted by Ukraine and the members of the G7 in Vilnius on July 12, 2023.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on Friday, May 31, Zelenskyy arrived in Sweden for the Ukraine-Northern Europe summit, where three security agreements are planned to be signed.

Earlier on Friday in Stockholm, Zelenskyy signed a security agreement with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

Ukraine has previously signed 12 bilateral security agreements: with Great Britain, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Spain, Belgium, and Portugal.

In total, 32 states have already joined the Joint Declaration.
