The administration of US President Joe Biden considers the Peace Summit, held last weekend in Switzerland, successful.

This was stated by the coordinator of strategic communications of the US National Security Council, John Kirby, at a press conference.

Kirby called the summit dedicated to establishing peace in Ukraine successful, noting that it was attended by Vice President Kamala Harris and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.

According to him, delegations from more than 100 countries and organizations gathered to discuss the importance of achieving a just and sustainable peace in Ukraine, based on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity provided for by the basic principles of the UN.

Kirby also recalled President Joe Biden's statement that lasting peace in Ukraine must be ensured by its ability to defend itself now and deter aggression in the future.

He assured that the United States will continue to provide Ukraine with military aid and support the Ukrainian people, in particular, will provide a new financing package for the restoration of Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

"The United States will provide additional humanitarian assistance to people in Ukraine affected by aggression, as well as to those who became refugees and were forced to go abroad," Kirby said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on June 17, the website of the Federal Council of Switzerland informed that the two countries had withdrawn their signatures under the joint communique after the Peace Summit in Switzerland. But the President's Office denied this information. Zhovkva explained that these two countries did not sign the final document of the Peace Summit at all. On June 18, it became known that Rwanda withdrew its signature under the joint communique of the Peace Summit.

On June 16, mass media reported that 12 countries and 4 organizations did not sign the joint communique following the results of the Peace Summit.
