Armenia recognizes Palestine as state

Palestine, Armenia

Armenia officially announced the recognition of Palestine as a state.

The corresponding statement was published on the website of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"Reaffirming its commitment to international law and the principles of equality, sovereignty and peaceful coexistence of peoples, the Republic of Armenia recognizes the state of Palestine," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia said in a statement.

The statement also states that Armenia has joined the resolutions of the UN General Assembly, which call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

"The catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza and the ongoing military conflict today require a settlement of the international political agenda. Armenia strongly rejects the targeting of civilian infrastructure during the armed conflict, violence against the civilian population, envy and capture of civilians, and joins the demands of the international community for their release without preconditions. The Republic of Armenia joined the resolutions of the UN General Assembly, which call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The Republic of Armenia is sincerely interested in establishing peace and stability in the Middle East, in long-term reconciliation between the Jewish and Palestinian peoples," the statement said.

As previously reported, French President Emmanuel Macron declared his readiness to recognize a Palestinian state. At the same time, he intends to do it at the appropriate time, and "not on emotions."
