Defense Ministry returns ammunition that was planned to be disposed to AFU

Ministry of Defense, ammunition, disposal

The Ministry of Defense returned to the Armed Forces of Ukraine a significant amount of ammunition of various calibers, which were previously transferred to enterprises for disposal as surplus.

This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Defense, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine returned a significant amount of ammunition of various calibers to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These ammunitions, which were transferred to enterprises for disposal as surplus even before the beginning of russia's armed aggression against Ukraine in 2014, are now coming in handy again due to the growing need for military resources," the message says.

The Ministry notes that with the beginning of the large-scale invasion of russia, the need for ammunition increased significantly, which required operational decisions regarding their return and use. Thanks to the efforts of specialists in the disposal of surplus military property, the returned ammunition, after a thorough quality check, is already being used on the battlefield against russian occupiers.

It is, in particular, about:

artillery shots

ammunition for small arms

components

detonators.

"We are looking for internal reserves to provide Ukrainian soldiers with ammunition. We understand that today every shot, missile, charge is vitally necessary on the battlefield. Instead of disposing of ammunition, we "dispose" the enemy with them. We give a second life - we try to restore everything that is subject to repair and further operation. We are all working to secure the front," said Deputy Defense Minister Yurii Dzhyhyr.

He added that the Ministry of Defense carries out regular monitoring, assessment of stocks and actively cooperates with enterprises of the defense-industrial complex to ensure uninterrupted supply of weapons, military equipment and other necessary means for the defenders of Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced after joint government meetings in Prague that the Ukrainian state company Ukroboronservice and the Czech ammunition manufacturer Sellier & Bellot plan to build an ammunition production plant in Ukraine.

Earlier, Defense Minister Rustem Umierov said that Ukraine will receive the first tranche of the proceeds from frozen russian assets already at the beginning of August, the funds will be spent, in particular, on the purchase of air defense equipment and ammunition.
