Zelenskyy holds meeting in Volyn regarding protection of state border in north

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a working trip to the Volyn Region, held a meeting on the construction of fortifications and the protection of the northern regions.

Zelenskyy announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Volyn. Construction of fortifications and a security meeting regarding our northern regions. The main focus is the protection of our state border in the regions bordering Russia and Belarus. We continue to strengthen the Ukrainian border," he wrote.

According to the President's Office, the meeting was attended by representatives of the military leadership, the State Border Guard Service, the heads of the Volyn, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Kyiv and Chernihiv Regional Military Administrations.

The State Border Guard Service Head Serhii Deineko reported on the border protection, in particular, the number of soldiers involved, their capabilities and weapons.

The heads of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration Viacheslav Chaus, Kyiv – Ruslan Kravchenko, Zhytomyr – Vitalii Bunechko, Rivne – Oleksandr Koval, Volyn – Yurii Pohuliaiko and the head of the Administration of the State Transport Special Service Oleksandr Yakovets informed about the progress of construction of fortifications along the border with Belarus.

The President familiarized himself with the works at one of the strongholds in the Volyn Region, inspected the arrangement of trenches, firing structures and positions, dugouts.

Since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion, anti-tank ditches, barrier fences and platoon strongpoints with firing positions have been built here.

Reinforced concrete structures and protective structures for the shelter of personnel have been installed in the directions of the likely movement of the armored vehicles of the occupiers.

"On our side, there is strong protection both in terms of personnel in terms of numbers, and in the defense lines. In all regions bordering Russia and Belarus, the number of border guards has also increased. And we continue to strengthen it," Zelenskyy stressed.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 29, on the Day of Special Operations Forces, Zelenskyy visited the forward command post of the Special Operations Forces in the Kharkiv direction near Vovchansk.
