MONITORING: russian gas transit via Ukraine falls to lowest in almost 1.5 years

The transit of russian gas via Ukraine fell to the lowest level in almost a year and a half.

The consulting company ExPro writes about this with reference to the confirmed nominations of the Ukrainian GTS Operator company at the entry point Sudzha.

In particular, the transit of russian gas via the Ukrainian gas transport system on August 8 compared to August 7 decreased by 6% to 37.25 million cubic meters, which is the lowest transit rate since May 1, 2023.

At the same time, the volume of transit of russian gas via Ukraine traditionally amounted to about 42-42.4 million cubic meters per day.

The day before, Ukrainian GTS Operator reported that the transit of russian gas was taking place as usual.

Currently, Sudzha is the only point via which russian gas enters Ukraine for its transportation to European customers.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, russian mass media claim that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have taken control of the Sudzha gas measuring station in the Kursk Oblast, via which russian gas transits to the European Union.

On August 7, a number of russian propagandists and "military bloggers" stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine allegedly took control of 11 settlements in the south of the Kursk Oblast.

In the first seven months of 2024, compared to the same period last year, russia increased the supply of gas for transit via the Ukrainian gas transport system to the European Union and Moldova by 10.5% to 8.072 billion cubic meters.
