Access to the Google AdSense contextual advertising service will be blocked for russians and the accounts of users from the russian federation will be disabled. Now, russians will not be able to receive income from posting content on the service, even if the advertisement was viewed from abroad or using a VPN, Ukrainian News Agency reports with reference to russian mass media.

"We are deactivating all AdSense accounts whose country of location is russia. This means that it will not be possible to receive income from monetization through such accounts," said representatives of the Google Payments team in their official message.

It is important to note that Google disabled monetization for russian YouTube bloggers as early as 2022. Then YouTube users from russia stopped seeing ads, and bloggers stopped receiving most of the income. However, the viewer could be shown ads if he was not in the territory of the russian federation or used a VPN or similar services. In this case, a YouTube blogger from russia, whose video was viewed from abroad, received money for showing advertisements.

At the same time, Google Payments noted that earnings for July will be paid to russian bloggers between August 21 and 26 of this year. After that, they will no longer be able to count on monetization of the content posted on the service.

As previously reported, the mobile application of the russian video hosting company Rutube has been removed from the App Store worldwide. The developers of the service noted that this happened due to sanctions imposed by the United States.
