Ukraine returns 6 more children from occupied territories - Ombudsman Lubinets

It was possible to return six more children from the temporarily occupied regions of the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions to the territory controlled by Ukraine.

The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"We managed to return 6 Ukrainian children from TOT to the Motherland. Families with children from the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions are now in safety, which they were sorely lacking," he wrote.

The Ombudsman said that according to the parents, their children were forced to attend a russian school and celebrate russian holidays, and they pressured Ukrainian citizens to receive russian-style documents.

In addition, armed russians broke into the homes of Ukrainian families and carried out baseless searches.

Lubinets noted that the feeling of disenfranchisement, limitations, awareness of what kind of future awaits the children became the impetus for leaving.

"One of the families has already visited the Center for the Protection of Children's Rights, where a team of representatives of NGOs, charities and state bodies talked about providing the necessary assistance. Another family was dealt with by our employees from the regional office of the Cherkasy Region," he wrote.

The Ombudsman emphasized that Ukraine is ready for the return of each of its citizens from the occupied territories and will provide them with basic humanitarian, medical, psychological and social assistance.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, at the beginning of August, 8 children were returned from the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson Region.
