A state of emergency was introduced at the regional level on the territory of the Belgorod Oblast of the aggressor country of the russian federation from Wednesday, August 14. Local authorities explain this as a difficult security situation due to the war.

This was announced by the governor of the Belgorod Oblast, Vyacheslav Gladkov, in his Telegram.

According to him, the situation in the region "continues to remain extremely difficult and tense."

The russian official complained about the "daily shelling" by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and said that "houses were destroyed, civilians were injured and killed" in the Belgorod Oblast.

He also said that a state of emergency at the regional level is being declared on the entire territory of the oblast for the purpose of "additional protection of the population, provision of additional support measures to the victims."

In addition, the governor initiates a further appeal to the government commission with a request to declare a state of emergency in the Belgorod Oblast and at the federal level.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on August 13, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that during the offensive, the Ukrainian military occupied 74 settlements in the Kursk Oblast.

Meanwhile, due to the advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in another district of the Kursk Oblast, the evacuation of the population was announced.
