The russian occupiers approached the city of Pokrovsk (Donetsk Region) almost up close.

This was announced by the head of the Pokrovsk District State Administration and the head of the District Military Administration, Volodymyr Zamotaiev, on the air of Hromadske Radio.

"The security situation in Pokrovsk District remains very difficult. Active hostilities are ongoing, which are accompanied by constant shelling of communities," said the head of the District State Administration, adding that the front line is dynamic and moving towards Pokrovsk District.

Zamotaiev reported that, as of the morning of August 16, the russian occupiers are 10.5 kilometers from the city.

Volodymyr Zamotaiev urged local residents to evacuate to safer areas.

The head of the District State Administration said that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the number of injured civilians is 2,039, and 681 people have died. Of them, 17 children died, another 102 were injured.

Due to the dangerous situation, a decision was made in the district to forcibly evacuate children and their parents (or their substitutes). Zamotaiev says that this decision primarily concerns Kurakhove, Novohrodivka, and some settlements of Selydove Communities, as well as the city of Myrnohrad.

"During the period of forced evacuation (two weeks), 2,684 children were evacuated. In total, since August 7, about 15,000 people were evacuated from the mentioned communities, including 2,747 children," he said, adding that as of August 15, there were still 1,672 children left in Pokrovsk District. The largest number remains in the Kurakhove Community — 418 children.
