Cabinet allocates UAH 24 billion for purchase of drones for Security and Defense Forces

The Cabinet of Ministers allocated UAH 24 billion for the purchase of drones for the Security and Defense Forces.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this in his Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Today we are allocating UAH 24 billion for the purchase of drones for the Security and Defense Forces," he said.

Shmyhal also reported that the government, on the instructions of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, today approved a bill that legally establishes the existence of the Unmanned Systems Forces.

The Prime Minister noted that on the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a separate type of troops was created in the structure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - the Unmanned Systems Forces, Ukraine is the first country in the world to complete their staffing.

He emphasized that Ukraine has made a real breakthrough in the production and use of drones. According to him, the state has already contracted 1 million drones, 500 Ukrainian companies produce UAVs.

"In the war with russia, Ukraine is betting on innovation, asymmetric responses and approaches. This is the key to our stability and future victory," Shmyhal noted.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy said that in July the Defense Forces used more drones on the front than the russian occupiers.

In December 2023, Zelenskyy said that in 2024 Ukraine would make 1 million drones.
