US Embassy warns of increased risk of shelling by russia in connection with celebration of Ukraine's Independence Day

USA, shelling, Independence Day

The US Embassy in Ukraine warned Americans in the country about the increased risk of russian shelling in connection with the celebration of Ukraine's Independence Day on August 24.

This is stated on the department's website.

"The US Embassy in Kyiv assesses that over the next few days and during the weekend there is an increased risk of both night and day attacks by russian drones and missiles throughout the territory of Ukraine in connection with the celebration of the Independence Day of Ukraine on August 24," the message reads.

The embassy recommended taking the following actions:

  • follow the news in local mass media,
  • determine places of shelter in advance before announcing an air alert,
  • seek shelter immediately if an air alert is announced,
  • follow the instructions of Ukrainian officials and emergency response services in the event of an emergency.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, meanwhile, on the night of August 21, 50 out of 69 Shaheds, as well as an air missile, were shot down over Ukraine. The occupiers also struck Ukraine with two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from the Voronezh Oblast.
