Ukraine retains 21st place in Worldsteel rating by volume of steel production in 7M

Ukraine retained the 21st place in the rating of the Worldsteel international association by the volume of steel production in the first seven months of 2024.

This follows from a statement by the Ukrmetalurgprom association, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

According to him, according to the results of production in the first seven months of 2024, Ukraine took the 21st position among 71 steel-producing countries with a result of 4.58 million tons, which is 33.6% higher than the figure for the same period in 2023.

The first place traditionally belongs to China: Chinese metallurgists smelted 613.72 million tons in the first seven months of 2024, down 2.2% year over year.

China's share in world steel production is 55.4%.

The second place belongs to India (production increased by 7.2% to 86.4 million tons), the third place to Japan (it decreased by 2.8% to 49.8 million tons), the fourth place to the United States (it decreased by 1.8% to 46.9 million tons), the fifth - russia (decreased by 3% to 43.1 million tons), the sixth - South Korea (decreased by 5.9% to 37.1 million tons), the seventh - Germany (increased by 4.5% to 22.5 million tons), eighth - Turkey (increased by 14.9% to 21.7 million tons), ninth - Brazil (increased by 3.3% to 19.4 million tons), and the tenth - Iran (increased by 2.9% to 18.4 million tons).

World steel production in the first seven months of 2024 amounted to 1,107.24 million tons, down 0.71% year over year.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukraine took 23rd place in the Worldsteel ranking in terms of steel production in 2023.
