Another 115 Ukrainians freed from russian captivity

Ukraine returned another 115 Ukrainian prisoners of war from russian captivity.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on his official page on the Telegram social network and representatives of the Coordination Headquarters.

"Another 115 of our defenders returned home today. They are soldiers of the National Guard, Armed Forces, Navy, and State Border Guard Service," the Head of State said.

The President of Ukraine also thanked each unit that replenishes the Ukrainian exchange fund.

"This brings closer the release of our military, our civilians from russian captivity. Thanks to our team and partners, the UAE for the fact that our people are returning home," Zelenskyy added.

In turn, the Coordination Headquarters noted that all those rescued during the 55th exchange of prisoners are conscripts, including those who were captured by russia in the first months of the full-scale russian invasion in 2022.

Among the freed are 9 illegally convicted defenders, military sailors and 3 border guards, as well as 82 defenders of Mariupol (half a hundred of them defended Azovstal.

Also, six National Guardsmen from the garrison guarding the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, servicemen who defended the Kyiv, Donetsk, Kherson and Luhansk Regions, are returning home.

"Many freed Ukrainian servicemen have health problems as a result of injuries, as well as due to russia's non-compliance with the norms of International Humanitarian Law in captivity. All of them will undergo a medical examination, the necessary treatment, receive psychological help, reintegrate into our society and receive appropriate payments," the Coordinating Staff noted.
