Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin is outraged by the escape of Verkhovna Rada member Artem Dmytruk from Ukraine and strongly urged Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal to close the borders to prevent such escapes.

The Prosecutor General said this at a forum in Kyiv, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"My indignation is greater than yours. When we see videos, when our border guards use drones to track fugitives and detain them. And I wonder why it was possible in such cases, but here a person crossed the border illegally," Kostin said.

He added that Dmytruk did not cross the border on his own and someone helped him.

"We are identifying everyone who is involved in this. We have already established the path where he crossed the border illegally. This is the section of the border with the so-called Transnistria. We know in which country he is. Now he is traveling in different countries. He can still return on his own. He has such an opportunity. If not, then we have mechanisms to return him. I am calling now - dear MP - to come back. Taking this opportunity, I appeal to the Prime Minister - we have to close the border," Kostin stressed.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) admitted that MP Artem Dmytruk illegally crossed the border and left for Moldova. The Prosecutor General informed the MP of Ukraine Artem Dmytruk of the suspicion due to attacks on a law enforcement officer and a military officer, an attempt to steal a firearm, causing bodily harm and hooliganism. The SBI started criminal proceedings on the fact of the illegal crossing of the border by a current MP, who was served with the suspicion of attacks on citizens.
