One of the reasons for the crash of the F-16 fighter of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which became known on August 29, could be the "friendly fire" of the Ukrainian air defense system.

Voice of America writes about this with reference to an anonymous representative of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the interlocutor of the publication, investigations into the causes of the F-16 crash are ongoing.

"Different versions are being considered, including the "friendly fire" of their air defense systems, a technical malfunction and pilot error," said a representative of the Air Force on condition of anonymity.

He called to wait for the end of the official investigation by specialists, when the exact cause of the tragedy will be known.

The representative of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also criticized a number of mass media, which wrote that the reasons for the plane's downfall were allegedly already known.

On August 29, the American edition of The Wall Street Journal wrote, citing its own sources, that on August 26, Ukraine lost its first F-16 fighter.

According to Reuters, the crash of the F-16 fighter was not caused by the fire of the Russian occupiers.

Later, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the information about the loss of the F-16 aircraft.

The fighter pilot was killed as a result of the accident.

Verkhovna Rada member Maryana Bezuhla wrote in her Telegram channel that the F-16 fighter jet was shot down by the Patriot anti-aircraft missile complex due to a lack of coordination between units.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine used F-16 fighter jets to repel a massive russian attack on August 26.
