The Ministry of Defense commissioned the first underground hospital to provide primary medical care and stabilize the condition of soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine after being wounded.

This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Defense, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In total, the project envisages the construction of more than 20 underground stabilization points. The first such stabilization point is located near the front line and is designed to provide medical assistance to Ukrainian defenders in the safest possible conditions.

The hospital is built on the basis of six enlarged steel bunkers, each of which has a length of 7.6 meters and a diameter of 2.5 meters. Ventilation systems, water supply, drainage and alternative power sources are installed to ensure the operation of the facility.

"Such underground stabilization points are critically important for saving the lives of our soldiers. In the conditions of intense combat operations, we must provide maximum protection and rapid medical assistance to our heroes. This is the first step in the framework of a large-scale project that will strengthen our medical infrastructure and allow even more effective support of defenders on the frontline," Defense Minister Rustem Umierov emphasized.

For the purpose of additional protection, the stabilization point is equipped with electronic warfare (EW) systems.

The total investment in the project amounted to over UAH 20 million.

According to the acting commander of the Medical Forces "East" Roman Kuziev, the new underground hospital is the best of the available stabilization points, it is possible to provide medical assistance to more than 100 patients.

The underground hospital consists of two full operating units, two resuscitation units, a working room and a rest module for medical personnel. It is equipped with modern medical equipment, including oxygen concentrators, ventilators, cardiac monitors and defibrillators.

The concept of the organization of the underground space and technical filling, developed and designed by the medics of the "East" Medical Forces, meets the requirements of field hospitals of the second echelon (Role/Echelon 2) according to NATO standards.

The hospital has the ability not only to stabilize the wounded, but also to conduct up to four operations at the same time.

It is noted that the construction of the first headquarters was implemented by the Ministry of Defense in cooperation with the Metinvest Group.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in September, the Ministry of Defense codified and approved for delivery to the Armed Forces of Ukraine the domestic armored personnel carrier "Khorunzhyi", which is the result of the modernization of the Soviet BTR-60.
