Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NACB) Semen Kryvonos has dismissed Gizo Uglava as the first deputy director of the Bureau.

The NACB has announced this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The director of the NACB decided to apply disciplinary sanctions in the form of dismissal to the first deputy director of the Bureau for committing a disciplinary offense - violation of the oath of a civil servant, violation of the rules of ethical behavior of civil servants, the Law of Ukraine "On Civil Service", the Code of Ethics of the NACB employee.

The official investigation and the NACB Disciplinary Commission established that the first deputy director committed a number of actions and statements of a negative nature, aimed at personal and professional discrediting of the Bureau employee who submitted a memo about the possible facts of information leakage.

In addition, these actions made the NACB employees understand the possibility of negative consequences for whistle-blowing activities, which is an unacceptable violation of the highest standards of ethics and integrity, which employees and top management of the NACB should be guided by in their work.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Uglava declared nearly half a million hryvnias in vacation allowance and salary. The NACB completed an official investigation into the first deputy director Gizo Uglava, the conclusion was handed over to the disciplinary commission. The first deputy director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, Gizo Uhlava, calls on the NACB and SACPO to remove the state secret from the information leak case. In his opinion, this will remove all baseless accusations against him and generally restore confidence in the Bureau. Uglava was deprived of almost all powers, but was not removed from office.
