USA explains why it opposes ATACMS strikes on russia

The US will not change its policy regarding strikes by American missiles against military targets on russian territory, because russian aircraft are out of ATACMS range.

This was stated at a briefing on September 4 by White House spokesman for national security John Kirby.

Answering the question of a journalist of the Ukrainian service of Voice of America, Kirby said that he condemns the russian attacks and considers them "disgusting".

According to him, Ukraine has the right to defend itself, and therefore the strengthening of air defense remains the main topic during the discussion of military aid packages. However, the policy regarding strikes deep into the territory of the russian federation remains unchanged.

"90% of the aircraft that russia uses for guided bombs and long-range missile strikes, we've calculated that, are located outside 300 kilometers of the border with Ukraine - deep in the middle of russia. So the claim, they say, 'we'll just give them ATACMS and say okay "- and they will be able to hit most of the russian planes at the air bases from where the strikes on Ukraine are conducted - is false," Kirby said.

We will remind, according to the media, Great Britain has been waiting for more than a month for the decision of the United States to give permission to Ukraine to hit russian territory with Storm Shadow missiles.
