Hundreds of MW of gas generation already built out of planned 1 GW, and 600 MW financed - Halushchenko

Out of the planned 1 GW of new gas generation for 2024, hundreds of MW have already been built, and 600 MW have been financed.

The Minister of Energy, Herman Halushchenko, said this during question time to the government, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"I will not specify the locations, but as of today, hundreds of MW of financed equipment have already been installed, somewhere around 600 megawatts," he said about the planned 1 GW of new gas generation.

According to Halushchenko, part of the 600 MW equipment that has been financed is already in Ukraine, and part is on the way.

The Minister of Energy assures that there is a clear plan and schedule for the construction of 1 GW of new gas generation, which is being implemented by a number of state-owned companies, in particular Naftogaz, the operator of the gas transportation system.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, ex-advisor to the Minister of Energy Lana Zerkal believes that it is impossible to build up to one gigawatt of gas shunting generation in six months and another 4 gigawatts in the coming years, as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at the Ukraine Recovery Conference.
