Digital Transformation Ministry launches online marriage in Diia

The Ministry of Digital Transformation has launched an online marriage in the Diia application.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Innovations, Development of Education, Science and Technologies - Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Get married online first in the world with Diia. We are launching an online marriage in Diia. Only in Ukraine you can go through the full cycle of marriage — from submitting an application, marriage online and to a certificate in the application. You no longer need to travel anywhere, collect documents, put them in a file to become husband and wife. From now on, it's just a few clicks in Diia," he said.

Fedorov noted that thanks to online marriage, military personnel and couples who are far from each other will be able to get married despite the circumstances, the distance between cities or even countries.

"Join the digital ceremony with the registrar wherever you want. Decide whether you want to change your surname, keep your own or take a double one, simply in the application. The whole process of marriage will last about 30 minutes, the certificate will immediately appear in Diia, a paper version will come in the mail. A creative way to surprise your partner is to propose in Diia. Check with your loved ones how it works now)… Spend time on romance, not bureaucracy,” he urged.

Fedorov added that marriage is only the beginning, the basis for the digitization of other services that will soon appear in Diia.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in May, beta testing of online marriage was launched in the Diia application.

From February 2023, it is possible to submit an application for marriage registration in Diia.
