Farmers use more than 200,000 hectares of demined agricultural land since the beginning of the year.

This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Economy, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"More than 200,000 hectares of fertile land have been surveyed, cleared of mines and handed over to farmers since the beginning of the year. Agricultural producers received more than 20,000 hectares of them in August... Now there are 53 of them in Ukraine - almost twice as many as at the beginning of the year," said Yuliya Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy.

According to her, since the beginning of the year, mine action operators have surveyed more than 224,000 hectares of land, in particular, 184,500 hectares in the Kherson Region, 17,500 hectares in the Kharkiv Region, and 12,100 hectares in the Mykolaiv Region.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers increased compensation to farmers for demining agricultural land from 80% to 100%.

In April 2023, the Minister of Interior Affairs Ihor Klymenko stated that demining agricultural land would take more than 10 years.

In particular, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, more than 1 million hectares of agricultural land were mined in the Kharkiv and Kherson Regions.
