270,000 weapons lost and stolen since start of full-scale invasion

Almost 271,000 weapons have been lost and stolen since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine. This is 40% of the total number of stolen and lost weapons in the register. More than 78,000 weapons have been lost and stolen since the beginning of the year, according to Opendatabot.

Most often, weapons are lost in Kyiv (10%), in the Zaporizhzhia Region (11.8%), as well as in the Donetsk Region (19.4%).

This year, the number of lost and stolen weapons increased: for the incomplete 2024 weapons were stolen or lost more than for the whole of last year - 78,217 units. At the same time, it is 4 times more than before the start of full-scale.

Hunting rifles (27.9%), assault rifles (27.8%) and carbines (10.8%) are most often lost. And among the models, the AK-74 assault rifle is the leader - 51,008 units (18.8%), as well as PM pistols (7.4%) and SKS carbines (4.4%).

The vast majority of weapons in the register have been lost since the beginning of the full scale - 88%. Only 12% of weapons from the register were stolen.

As previously reported, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, almost 226,000 applications for permission to obtain weapons were processed. More than 210,000 of them were approved. The average number of applications per month increased 1.8 times compared to the first months of the existence of the Unified Weapons Register.
