The Ministry of Defense has engaged international experts for an internal audit to optimize the work of the Ministry, including the activities of the Minister of Defense Rustem Umierov and his deputies.

This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Defense, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine concluded a Memorandum on support in conducting a functional audit with one of the leading international companies, which is part of the "Big Four" audit and consulting firms... According to the agreements, the audit will cover the internal processes of the Ministry, including the activities of the Minister of Defense and his deputies," the message says.

The memorandum was signed by Umierov and the head of the auditing company.

After the audit is completed, the company will provide detailed recommendations for optimizing and improving work processes.

"Increasing the level of transparency and efficiency of the work of the Ministry of Defense is one of our priorities. A functional audit is an important step that will allow identifying directions for improvement and reducing corruption risks. There can be no compromises in ensuring the country's defense capability. Efficiency and trust in our work is key elements on the way to strengthening our defense," Umierov noted.

It is noted that this audit is part of the Ministry of Defense's strategic course to strengthen the department's transparency and accountability, which meets international management standards.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in April the Ministry of Defense engaged auditors from member states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) for an internal audit.

The Verkhovna Rada appointed the former head of the State Property Fund, Rustem Umierov, to the position of Minister of Defense in September 2023.
