The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, will check the information on the mass applications of Ukrainian citizens abroad to withdraw from citizenship.

He told Ukrainian News Agency about this.

"All the information is in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I received this information and I will definitely look into this issue, but the issue of relinquishing citizenship is clearly regulated by the Law of Ukraine on Citizenship and the Constitution," Stefanchuk said.

He emphasized that the authorities of Ukraine are interested in Ukrainian citizens remaining citizens of Ukraine.

"...That is why the President submitted a bill on multiple citizenship to the parliament, and I hope that in the near future the Verkhovna Rada will be able to consider this law in order to give all citizens of Ukraine a continuous legal connection with the state of Ukraine," Stefanchuk emphasized.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the procedure for passing exams on the Constitution and history of Ukraine for obtaining citizenship. The Committee on Human Rights, De-occupation and Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, National Minorities and International Relations recommends that the Parliament adopt a bill on citizenship for volunteers in the second reading.
