On September 24, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will speak at a meeting of the United Nations Security Council dedicated to russia's war in Ukraine.

This is reported by Reuters with reference to the mission of Slovenia, which will preside over the UN in September, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The meeting of the Security Council will take place in New York at a time when world leaders will meet at the annual session of the UN General Assembly.

Zelenskyy will go to the U.S. with another goal — to present a "victory plan" to U.S. President Joe Biden.

His trip is said to come at a critical moment in the war, as russian troops continue to advance in the east of Ukraine, despite the Ukrainian army launching a surprise operation in Kursk Oblast (russia) last month.

According to diplomats, the meeting of the UN Security Council was convened at the request of the U.S., the UK, France, Japan, South Korea and Malta.

The publication recalled that russia carried out a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, which was condemned by an overwhelming majority of the 193-member General Assembly, which demanded that moscow withdraw its troops, but the UN Security Council reached an impasse because russia can veto any Security Council resolution.

On September 18, in his evening video message, Zelenskyy said that the Ukrainian victory plan has already been fully prepared and "the most important thing now is the determination to implement it."

According to the President, there is no alternative to peace, there is no place for any freezing of the war or any other actions that "simply move Russian aggression to another stage."

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy previously said that the aggressor country russia will be invited to the second Peace Summit to be held in November.

The head of state also announced a meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden in September to discuss the "victory plan".

Polish President Andrzej Duda and the U.S. presidential candidate from the Republican Party Donald Trump may meet in the state of Pennsylvania. In the event of a meeting, the security of Poland and the war in Ukraine will be discussed.

Meanwhile, the counteroffensive of russian forces with the aim of recapturing the territory in the Kursk Oblast, which is under the control of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, has been "stopped".
