Ukrainian Defense Industry transforms 42 defense enterprises from state-owned enterprises to commercial companies

The Supervisory Board of the Ukrainian Defense Industry joint-stock company (formerly Ukroboronprom) has adopted a decision on the creation of limited liability companies (LLCs) on the basis of three state-owned enterprises (SEs).

This is stated in the company's message, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

According to the notification, the SEs will finally be transformed into LLCs after the appropriate state registration procedure.

"This transformation is one of the elements of the reform of corporate management in the defense industry, which is being implemented by Ukroboronprom. As part of the reform, 42 enterprises have already been transformed into economic companies - LLCs and JSCs, of which 14 will be in 2024," the message states.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, JSC Ukrainian Defense Industry announced a competition for the post of the Director General.

On September 5, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Herman Smetanin, Director General of JSC Ukrainian Defense Industry as Minister for Strategic Industries.

At the same time, the Supervisory Board of JSC Ukrainian Defense Industry appointed Oleh Huliak as the provisional director general.

In October 2021, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved the reorganization of the Ukroboronprom concern by transforming it from a state unitary commercial enterprise into a joint-stock company.
