Energy Ministry announces competition for selection of 3 independent members of Ukrenergo’s supervisory board

The Ministry of Energy has announced a competition for the selection of 3 independent members of the supervisory board of the Ukrenergo National Power Company.

This is stated in the message of the ministry, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Taking into account the expiry of the term of office of the members of the supervisory board of NPC Ukrenergo at the end of 2024 - the beginning of 2025, the Ministry of Energy, as a management entity performing the functions of the general meeting of shareholders, has announced a competitive selection of candidates for three positions of independent members of the supervisory board of Ukrenergo and Ukrenergo is instructed to engage a professional consultant for personnel selection," the message says.

According to the notification, simultaneously with this competitive selection, the Ministry of Energy will determine and select candidates for state representatives in the supervisory board of Ukrenergo.

"The first and main task of the newly created independent supervisory board will be to conduct a transparent competitive selection of candidates for the position of the chairman of the board of Ukrenergo. Therefore, the supervisory board will make a decision on the criteria for selecting candidates for the position of the chairman of the board and approving the procedure for conducting a competitive selection of the chairman of the board of Ukrenergo," the message says.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on September 5, the Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo appointed Oleksii Brekht as the Acting Chairman of the Board.

On September 3, the chairman of the supervisory board of Ukrenergo, Daniel Dobbeni, and the member of the supervisory board, Peder Andreasen, decided to terminate their powers due to the unjustified dismissal of the head of the company, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi.

They also stated about political pressure and constant attempts to bypass the competition to appoint people whose professional qualities were doubtful to the board of Ukrenergo.

According to the decision of the Supervisory Board of NPC Ukrenergo, the head of the company, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, was dismissed from his position on the evening of September 2.
