Unknown persons cut a number of fiber optic cables that provide broadband communication throughout France. However, it will not affect the Olympic Games.

This is reported by Bloomberg.

A representative of the telecommunications partner of the Olympics, Orange SA, said that the connections serving Paris, in particular, the Olympic facilities, were not affected. However, this is already the second sabotage of French infrastructure in the last few days. Before that, the railway lines were under attack, where the schedule of trains was changed due to arson.

Fiber optic cables were cut in nine departments. Vandals damaged communications between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. Paris time, so alternative customer service routes had to be used.

A representative of the Paris prosecutor's office said that he is analyzing the situation with regional colleagues and may lead the investigation. The authorities are called to increase criminal liability for vandalism in the telecommunications infrastructure.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, French authorities suspect russia of involvement in the sabotage of the country's railway infrastructure, which caused a passenger collapse on the opening day of the Olympic Games in Paris.

In Paris, 40-year-old russian chef Kirill Gryaznov was arrested, who in a drunken state waved an FSB employee's ID and said he wanted to disrupt the Olympic Games.
