Monthly losses of russian troops in war against Ukraine decreased - British military intelligence

Over the past two months, the average daily loss of russians killed and wounded has dropped from the highest level for all time of the full-scale war - from more than 1,262 people per day in May - to 1,140 people in July 2024.

This is stated in the review of the British Ministry of Defense.

Despite this decline, the past three months have been marked by the largest losses for russian forces since February 2022, according to reports from the Ukrainian General Staff.

The decrease in the average daily indicator probably indicates that russian troops are consolidating their positions in the Kharkiv Axis. While this new approach has increased pressure on the front, effective Ukrainian defenses and a lack of russian training reduce russia's ability to use any tactical successes to achieve broader operational advantages.

Russian losses rates are likely to continue to average more than 1,000 per day through August 2024 as russia continues offensive operations on a wide front from Kharkiv in the north to Robotyne in southern Ukraine.

In late July, British intelligence predicted that russia would continue its tactical advance in the coming weeks despite limited overall operational capability.

Also, the Ministry of Defense of Britain noted that russia's average daily losses in killed and wounded during May and June 2024 increased to the maximum during the entire time of its war of aggression against Ukraine.
