Ukraine plans to open humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of residents of the Kursk Oblast.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk announced this on her Telegram channel.

According to her, Ukraine is creating a security zone on the territory of the russian federation (in order to protect the border areas, in particular the Sumy Region). Russian civilians live in this zone. They are under the protection of humanitarian law.

Therefore, the forces of the Ukrainian military plan to:

  • conduct humanitarian operations to support civilians within the specified zone;
  • open humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians: both towards russia and Ukraine;
  • admit international humanitarian organizations to the security zone for the purpose of humanitarian response, as well as monitoring of the humanitarian situation.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, during the morning report to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi said that there were no russian troops left in the city of Sudzha, Kursk Oblast.

In addition, at a meeting on the situation in the Kursk Oblast, Zelenskyy discussed humanitarian aid and the creation of military command posts.
