South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has proposed the creation of an advisory body for negotiations with North Korea. The South Korean leader wants to discuss ways to "relieve tensions and restore economic cooperation" between the two parts of Korea, Reuters reports.

Yoon Suk Yeol emphasized that economic and political partnership between the countries is possible if Pyongyang fulfills one demand - denuclearization, i.e. stopping the production and development of nuclear weapons.

"We will start political and economic cooperation as soon as North Korea takes at least one step towards denuclearization. Dialogue and cooperation can lead to significant progress in inter-Korean relations," Yoon Suk Yeol said.

South Korea's President hopes that a working group of negotiators will find a compromise on a number of humanitarian issues, including the reunification of families separated by the 1950-1953 Korean War.

Yoon Suk Yeol also admitted that relations between the countries are at the lowest level in recent decades. He named the reason for this situation as North Korea's desire to develop its nuclear and missile potential.

As it is known, at the beginning of the year, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called South Korea "the main enemy" and threatened to turn it into ashes. And in August, he ordered 250 missile launchers to be sent to the South Korean border.

Kim Jong Un also called russia's war against Ukraine "just" and "holy".
