Biden meets with russian journalist Kara-Murza at White House

USA, Joe Biden, Vladimir Kara-Murza

US President Joe Biden met with journalist Vladimir Kara-Murza, released from a russian prison as part of the prisoner exchange between the West and Russia, and his family at the White House.

He reported this on the social network X.

“I welcomed Vladimir Kara-Murza and his family to the White House today to celebrate his return to America. Vladimir spent two and a half years unjustly imprisoned in russia for speaking out against russia's war in Ukraine. Today his family is whole once more,” the message reads.

It will be recalled that on August 1, US President Joe Biden confirmed the release as a result of the exchange of Americans, Germans and russians held in russian prisons.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, at the same time, russian oppositionist Vladimir Kara-Murza, who was released from prison as a result of the exchange between the russian federation and the USA, declared the "injustice" of Western sanctions against the entire people of russia. Opposition member Ilya Yashin expressed his desire to "return home".

In April, the Moscow court of the aggressor state of russia sentenced journalist Vladimir Kara-Murza to 25 years in a penal colony for "treason" and the so-called "spreading of fakes" about the actions of the occupation army in Ukraine.

The convict himself pleaded not guilty to any charge and considered his persecution to be politically motivated.
